Welcome back to another great school year! We, the parents who are involved in RAM, are enthusiastic and looking forward to another successful year in the Montessori program!
The current parents of children in the Montessori program have a significant responsibility to carry on this program that was started by parents some 14 years ago. Those parents wanted an alternative to the public school program, and worked long hours over many months with the school board. The result is the Montessori program in which we are fortunate enough to have our children registered. Our job is to ensure the program continues and grows, not only for our children, but also for future children in Richmond .
The success of RAM is dependent on full participation of parents and teachers in an environment characterized by mutual respect and cooperation. We are fortunate to have an excellent group of dedicated and highly professional teachers whose objective is to create interactive and dynamic learning environments for our children. At the same time, we also have many committed parents who have dedicated considerable amount of their personal time to help* make this association successful.
A new group of parents has volunteered to act as the
executive during this school year. Meeting dates have
been set and activities are planned that will fulfill the
requirements of our mission statement – educating the
parents as to what Montessori is, and continuing to supply
our classrooms with Montessori materials.
WHAT/WHO IS RAM? The RICHMOND ASSOCIATION FOR MONTESSORI (RAM) is a registered society formed under the Society Act of British Columbia. The Executive each year works to further the purposes of RAM to the benefit of the children in the program in three Montessori Elementary Schools. The association has established the following goals:
-
*Educate the parents as to how Montessori works,
and how the children learn through the program.
-
Provide Montessori education funding for our teachers.
-
*Raise money to buy the Montessori materials used in the classrooms. This is done through fund raisers that will occur during the fall. We hope everyone will participate to ensure the success of this wonderful program.
